Lights, Camera, Results!!! The Keys to a Successful Video

According to a 2023 survey, 95% of all B2B participants acknowledged that video marketing was instrumental in driving business results. Done correctly, video marketing can drive engagement, lead generation, and deliver sales. But what are the keys and steps for a strong video campaign.


We at Matchlight love to create content that connects on a deeper level delivering tangible results to our customers and partners. Whether for profit or non-profit, we have found that four elements are crucial for your content to deliver tangible results (ie. $$$):




(1) Identify Your Perfect Customer: Understanding your perfect customer and why they choose your product or service will be foundational in the creative process. Who are you targeting? What are their pain points? Your customer's needs and desires will be key ingredients into the video asset we pursue. Covering these elements in a authentic way will be critical to have media content that performs and delivers business results.


(2) Differentiate Your Service: Understanding how your company or service uniquely serves your target market is a critical element. What is your companies advantage and how is it important to your customer. We will work with you to identify these elements and develop a storyboard that communicates these strengths.


(3) Understand Your Distribution Channels/Strategy: Know your content distribution strategy and how and where you will use your videos. It will be important to know where your customer is in the buying journey to better inform the story we need to tell in the different assets we create. We also find it highly effective to be ready to spend money on promoting your video to find new customers.


(4)) Create Videos that Resonate with your Target: Finally, we will work together to find the story in your product our service and bring this to life in the form of an exceptional plan and eventual video. Connection is personal and a great video will draw your customer to your brand. We believe a well told story can cut through the noise and clutter, standing out and drive results.

  

We are often asked if there is one key that most correlates to results , and there really is not, but we have found that success is tied to the development process. In our experience, you should only move forward with production once you have found a story or message that moves you. This is so important that it's worth repeating: Don’t move the story until the story moves you.


The secret ingredient behind excellent stories starts long before the telling; it starts with listening. Everyone can spot a forced story a mile away, so before we start, let’s ensure we have found a story that we can tell that moves people to action.
